Abstract

This paper examines the working conditions of female marketers in the banking industry with a focus on five new generation banks selected for study from Ibadan. The paper argues that the employment of single and educated young ladies as marketers is a deliberate strategy to use these ladies to attract customers to their various banks. The study finds out that such ladies are given specific targets to meet within a time period and where they fail to meet the targets, they may lose their jobs. Findings from the study revealed that such ladies oftentimes are faced with risks including sexual requests from prospective male customers and concludes that there is the need for these banks to promote decent work agenda in the work place by shunning practices that do not promote human dignity.
