Abstract

There are many views of waste. Before, the common belief is that waste is waste and of no value but it is not so again in Nigeria. Even though management of waste is a problem in any country, many Nigerians out of poverty and joblessness have turned their attention to what can be obtained from waste. It is now common sight to see young men with dirty gloves scavenging waste heaps to see what can be taken from them. This is because wastes are not sorted out in Nigeria. Materials that are recovered are then taken away to be sold to users of second-hand materials.
