J Obuh

Abstract

The paper examines the influence of agriculture undergraduates\' personal characteristics on their perception of agricultural extension. Data for the study was collected with the aid of questionnaire from 109 randomly selected respondents in the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. Findings of the study revealed that respondents have favourable perception about the importance of agricultural extension in agricultural development. Correlation analysis showed that location of home was significant and positively correlated with perception of the importance of agricultural extension at the 0.01 level. This suggests that the location influenced their perception of the importance of agricultural extension. It is therefore recommended that adequate structure be put in place to enhance children\'s interest on agriculture.
