Rebranding Nigerian Arts In The Twilight Of Economic Meltdown

Abstract

Nigerian Arts has come a long way emanating from the people’s life style and their total existence as an entity and has undergone several developmental stages from utilitarian arts to representational arts, with themes and styles, reflected as body decorations, potteries, carvings, textiles, folklore and wall decorations. Until recently, with the emergence of the internet the world suddenly has become a global village and every facet of man’s existence suddenly has navigated to the jet age of which every human endeavor that does not catch up with the move is left in the dark, this move has given birth to issues as modernization, globalization, and lately, economic melt down, and every nation is strategizing for avenue to get out of this recession thus the need to re brand Nigerian Arts, will position it in the fore front of National development. This paper critically discuss what branding is all about, Economic Melt Down and the Nigerian Arts, strategies to re-branding Nigerian Arts, and Analyzes some of the problems and challenges Nigerian Arts faces and concludes with how
Nigerian Arts should take her place in this new face of Nigeria in an era as this, when every economy is going through the challenge of economic meltdown.
