Abstract

The quest for increase in transcending skills reflects uncontrollably in the scheme of every society especially at this moment of economic melt down. Economic melt down is not that monies of every country is melting away, but that fewer monies are available for spending and this is due to high rate of depth incurred through lending caused by the federal reserve whose loyalty is believed to firstly lies with bankers, most especially, Wall Street and now is reflected in every nation of the world. Nigeria is not left out of this issue but her social and economic problems will be drastically reduced if people are given adequate vocational training in skills, raw materials development, machinery, equipments and technological training, food productivity and creativity, thus, the problems of security, unemployment, youth unrest and war will be dealt with as industrial and technological development will be ignited. For it is only with skilled manpower that raw materials can be harnessed, manipulated and transformed into products therefore creating self employed citizens.

Key words: economic melt down: vocational education the missing link.
