Impact of effective communication in Secondary School Administration in Enugu State, Nigeria

Abstract

The study examined the impact of effective communication in secondary school administration in Enugu State. It was a descriptive study. The study comprised 659 respondents made up of 28 principals and 631 teachers. The population of the study was obtained through random sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was a 21-item questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t-test statistics. The findings show that effective communication clarifies teachers about task to be done, enhances productivity and makes teachers to be focused. The findings also show that communication is effective when principals are receptive to criticism, appreciate teachers’ point of view, run open administration. Recommendations were made on how to strengthen effective communication in secondary school administration.
