Abstract

This paper examines the effect of adaptive skill acquisition on youth development in the Niger delta area of Nigeria with emphasis on Bayelsa State. A structured questionnaire was used to collect relevant information from 99 respondents, which cut across four stakeholder institutions in the study area. Data analysis was by use of arithmetic means. The study found that respondents agree that adaptive skill acquisition will develop youths both in the personality and in the manipulative skill capabilities also. It is therefore recommended that adequate enlightenment campaign be put in place to sensitize the youths the more and that the programme should involve more youths.
