Le myxome du ventricule gauche : Observation a propos d’un cas
Abstract
Introduction: The myxoma of the left ventricle is a rare benign tumour, contrary to the myxoma of the left auricle which is frequent. It is generally responsible of syncopes. However, in rare cases, this tumour can remain asymptomatic and be fortuitous discovery during an echocardiography.
Objectives: the objectives of this observation were to stress the importance of the echocardiography in the diagnosis of the cardiac tumours and to raise the problem of cardiac surgery in our under developed countries.
Observation: It has been about a man of 51 year old hypertensive and regularly treated for three years which consulted in cardiology clinic of the CHU Campus of Lome, on Avril 5th 2005 for a check up. The patient did not present any functional symptomatology and haven’t not family antecedents of heart disease. The clinical examination was normal. The chest Xray was normal (CTR=0.48). The electrocardiogram noted a left ventricular hypertrophy. The echocardiographies showed a regular tumour with a diameter of 25 mm, developed in depends
on the posterior pillar of the left ventricle. The imagery by magnetic resonance (IMR) showed a mass, hyperdense compared to the myocardium. The anatomopathologic examination after surgical resection of the tumour confirmed the diagnosis of myxoma.
Conclusion: The diagnosis of the cardiac tumors and left ventricular myxoma especially, is made easy by the echocardiography, especially in the asymptomatic forms. However, the cardiac surgery is a serious problem in our under developed countries.
