Econometric Modeling: An Application to the Demand for Electricity in Nigeria
AbstractThis study investigates the nature of the demand for electricity in Nigeria using recent development in the cointegration theory. The empirical results show an inverse relationship between real appliance purchase price, the real per capita income and the demand for electricity. Also the rate of population growth rate as a proxy for electricity consumers appears to be insignificant. This reveals the clear fact that the demand for electricity is greater than its supply in Nigeria.
