The Nigerian Journal of Basic and Clinical Sciences (NJBCS) (Print ISSN: 0331-8540; Online ISSN: 2488-9288) is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, and open-access scientific journal published under the auspices of the College of Health Sciences, Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. Originally established in 2006 by the Kano Medical Research Society, a scholarly consortium based at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and the then Faculty of Medicine, Bayero University, Kano, the journal has evolved steadily over the years through successive editorial administrations. In 2017, formal ownership of the journal was transferred to the College of Health Sciences, under whose stewardship NJBCS continues to flourish.
Aims and Scope
The journal publishes high-quality and impactful research works relevant to health sciences. These include outstanding research in all branches of clinical practice, translational medicine, medical education, public health, as well as global health and policy. The journal publishes several types of articles including original clinical and basic biomedical research; brief reports (unique case reports, small-scale research or research that is in early stages of development); reviews; quality improvement reports; editorials; viewpoints; and correspondence on clinical matters. The journal also publishes results of meta-analyses and findings from relevant implementation and qualitative science studies. It is also a medium for publicizing meetings, conferences, latest books related to advances in health sciences in Africa and the rest of the world.
