Mastering the APA Style of Referencing with Ease

J A Omotosho

Abstract

The American Psychological Association's (APA) style of citation and referencing is very highly sought after, being very popular. Students and lecturers in tertiary institutions whose areas of specialization are in Education and the Social and Behavioural Sciences are required to apply the APA style whenever they submit their projects and papers. However, due to the fact that the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is very hard to access in Nigeria and other African countries, many students, lecturers and other writers besiege their colleagues with questions on the correct way to use the APA format. Those faced with requests for help often do not have ready and satisfactorily answers for their enquirers. It is in an effort to alleviate this problem to some extent that the author of this article has documented a panoptic, albeit common sense, way to help the reader master the major rules of APA referencing style.
