Effect of Family Type on Secondary School Students\' Performance in Physics in

Abstract



This study investigated the effect of family type on Secondary School students\' performance in physics in Ilorin metropolis. The sample comprised one hundred Senior Secondary II students from four schools in Ilorin metropolis. The instrument for the study titled \"Effect of Family type on Students\' Performance in Physics Questionnaire (EFTSPPQ) was designed by the researcher. The instrument consists of three sections. Section A & B are designed to collect personal information on the students while section C provides information on students\' scores in physics for the first term examination. Collected data were analysed using percentages and analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistic. The major findings include superiority of students from monogamous family over those (students) from polygamous and single-parent families. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations were made on ways by which students from polygamous and single-parent families can be assisted to improve on their performance in physics.
