Abstract

Mucocele of the appendix, though rare is a well recognized clinical entity mimicking several clinical syndromes and presenting with great diagnostic challenges. Often, it presents as an incidental surgical or radiological finding. We report a case of a 43 year old male who presented with signs and symptoms suggestive of acute appendicitis with intestinal obstruction on clinical examination and with radiological and ultranosographic study. Appendectomy was done and post up surgical pathology confirms mucocele of the appendix. Appendiceal mucocele should always be considered as a differential diagnosis for any right iliac-fossa pain or mass.
