Health professions entrepreneurial education and the future workforce: a focus on the nursing profession in Nigeria

Abstract

This article proposes health professions entrepreneurial education as an innovative approach to some major health sector problems. In particular, it presents the general importance of the nursing profession, the dilemma of young Nigerian (and other African nurses) to stay or migrate, Government position on workforce development in entrepreneurship and the current efforts in universities, especially Lagos State University, to provide entrepreneurial training for nurses. It concludes with emphasis on the academic discipline of Health Professions Education and its role in development of the future workforce.
