Digital conversion projects and experiences within information firms: study of the followed strategies

Abstract

The study has dealt with the followed strategies, relating to the topic of digital conversion projects and experiences within information firms, by conducting surveys in the information firms which already experienced digital conversion projects. Thus, one would know the existence of strategic plans relating to these projects within these firms. In order to achieve the study goals, surveys and inquiries were used as tools to compile data. The population study reached (11) information firms which have digital conversion projects. On the other hand, the study gave some results, the most important of them are reported as follows; most of the population study (6) are information firms which have a strategic plan complementary with 54.5% to the digital project. Whereas (4) of the information firms have one partial strategic plan with a percentage of 36.4%. Books and plans are information sources which are digitally converted with a percentage of 70%. Technical challenges and financial challenges, the lack of skillful staff in digitization, as well as authors and editors copyright constitute top of all challenges since it makes up 54.5% of the actual population study. Moreover, the study proposed a number of recommendations; the necessity of working on a strategic planning for the digital conversion project within information firms, never set up unpreplanned digital conversion projects, working on solutions to the challenges which face the digital conversion projects within information firms.
