Selecting a limited overs cricket squad using an integer programming model
AbstractAn integer programming model was developed to select an one day international (ODI) cricket squad of 15 players. To develop the method, batting, bowling and fielding ability, which are measured differently, had to be placed onto the same scale, so an ability-indexing technique was used. This paper describes the ability-indexing and integer programme used and discusses the results of an empirical study conducted using the statistics of 32 South African cricket players.
