Chijioke ibifiriblessingpollyn@gmail.com <p>From time immemorial, traditional plants have been used to produce health related foods, drinks, supplements and meals. It is a truism that in this dispensation, there are several health maladies that are threatening human health globally. The pandemic-Covid-19 that came upon the globe is one example among others. The need for individuals, communities, and governments to network and address health maladies is key. The purpose of this study therefore is to determine the concentrations of phytochemicals and heavy metals in Miracle Premium Orals. One (MPOs.1), perceived to be a detoxifier fit for human consumption. MPOs.1 is among 5MPOFOODS interpreted as Five Miracle Premium Organic Foods, Orals, Oils, Drops and Solutions, a proposed formulated health remedy. Cultivating, harvesting, extracting, filtering, purifying, analysing and packaging are the processes involved in 5MPOFOODS preparation. The plants and their common names used to prepare MPOs.1 include, lemon grass, pawpaw, dogoyaro and mango leaves, lemon and lime fruits, bitter ginger and turmeric. Method of preparation involved gathering the plants products from Bonny Island, weighing, washing, chopping with the pericarps of the fruits inclusive, blending, boiling or without boiling, leaving the experiment to stand (cool) for some time before filtering to obtain the samples. Four samples obtained were subjected to laboratory analyses. The result showed presence of some phytochemicals and heavy metals in the sample. In conclusion, MPOs.1 contains both phytochemicals and heavy metals. It is therefore recommended for further studies to eliminate the heavy metals which are toxic elements in it making it fit for public consumption.</p> 2025-05-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Academic publishing centre https://www.ajol.info/index.php/sitted/article/view/296507 Effect of on-board diagnostics machine instructional strategy on students’ retention and achievement in automobile technology 2025-05-24T18:21:47+00:00 C .J. Ijomah ndubuisi.umesi@fcetomoku.edu.ng <p>Soil contamination with heavy metals is a serious global environmental problem. Guinea grass (<em>Panicum maximum</em>) a good nutritional value for livestock can be found on roadside in all seasons (wet and dry) and has the potential to accumulate heavy metals in tissues from the soil This paper examined the the concentrations of heavy metal in surface soil and <em>Panicum maximum</em> as well as the uptake of the heavy metals by <em>Panicum maximum</em> along the Omoku-Ahoada Road. Five Samples of <em>Panicum maximum</em> and surface soil (0-15cm depth) were collected from 5 sampling stations in a study stretch along Omoku-Ahoada Road spanning the School of Vocational Education (SVE), Federal College of Education (Technial) Omoku to Okposi Palm Oil Mill in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. Plant and soil samples were characterized for the heavy metals chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd). Mean concentrations of Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd in tissues of Panicum maximum were obtained. Data were processed and organized into tables and scatterplots using the descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation. Differences in means were evaluated using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Significant differences in means were further investigated using the Tukey HSD test at the 95% significance level. Bivariate linear regression analysis was conducted to evaluate cause-effect relationships. The ANOVA on heavy metal concentrations of <em>Panicum maximum</em> (F4,16 = 78.326, P &lt; 0.05) and soil (F4,16 = 152.845, P &lt; 0.05) were statistically significant. Results of bivariate regression analysis were also significant and showed that soil concentrations of heavy metals accounted for approximately 84% of the variance of the concentration of heavy metals in <em>Panicum maximum</em>. Paper concluded among others that the heavy metal concentrations recorded in soils and Panicum maximum in this study were within regulatory limits and are thus not indicative of soil pollution with heavy metals. Hence, there was no evidence indicating that soils and <em>Panicum maximum</em> along the Omoku-Ahoada Road were polluted with heavy metals. Also, evidence in support of bioaccumulation was lacking, as the calculated metal transfer factor (MTF) values for the heavy metals investigated were less than 1.</p> 2025-05-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Academic publishing centre https://www.ajol.info/index.php/sitted/article/view/296523 Impact of global crises on vocational education: a focus on home economics education in south east Nigeria 2025-05-25T08:15:57+00:00 A. BH water had higher suspended solids although lower than 500mg//l prescribed limit for drinking water. The results show that BH water pH was (&lt;7.0) thus, slightly acidic, indicating that ground waters had acquired some form of pollution. The values reported were either below or above the maximum permissible limits for drinking water quality standard. Correlation analysis on the selected physical parameters indicated that pH had a negatively insignificant correlation with total dissolved solid (TDS) and Electrical conductivity (EC), r (- 0.67 p&gt;0.05) and r (-0.94, p&gt;0.05) respectively. However, Total Suspended Solid (TSS) had a positive correlation with EC, r (0.88, p&gt;0.05). This implies that acidity of water (pH) is attributed to other factors rather than TSS. This study recommends for the continuous monitoring of water quality in gas power plant facility to protect man and the environment.</p> 2025-05-25T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Academic publishing centre https://www.ajol.info/index.php/sitted/article/view/296528 Strategies for motivating technical teachers practical skills in technical colleges in Rivers State. 2025-05-25T08:51:21+00:00 C.J.
