Abstract

The COVID'19 pandemic has plagued the world bringing it to a standstill, however, the health care sector is one that cannot afford the luxury of a complete standstill, as it is duty bound to provide essential health care to patients, a virtue of professional calling and service to humanity. Healthcare workers have depended on the availability of personal-protective-equipment in preventing transmission of COVID'19 among health care personnel and patients during provision of health care services. There have been challenges of adequacy of personal-protective-equipment, the selection of appropriate types and its rational use. This article emanates from systematic review of current literatures primarily by the World-HealthOrganization, the Nigeria-Centre-for-Disease-Control and annals of surgery. The objective is to
give insight into evidence and consensus based guidelines on the rational use of personalprotective-equipment in preventing transmission of COVID 19.
