Focus and Scope

The Zimbabwe Journal of Educational Research is comprised of four sections: Scholarly articles - reporting on research findings and policy issues relating to education and human resources issues in sub-Saharan Africa; Research in progress - reporting on major research projects and new human resource initiatives in the region; Research Organisations - reporting on local, regional and international research organisations; Literature Sources - evaluating books, reports and other materials of interest to human resource researchers.

CALL FOR PAPERS: 2014 Edition

Research articles are invited from interested scholars and researchers in the academic community for publication in the July 2014 issue of the Zimbabwe Journal of Educational Research (ZJER).

Papers in the following specific issues and themes are welcome:

1)      The Teaching of Mathematics and Sciences in Africa

2)      Professionalism in African Educational Institutions

3)      Research Methods and Ethics in Africa

Manuscripts should be submitted according to the ‘Guide for Authors’ Format below:

  • All submissions should be written in English.
  • Submissions must not have been previously published, nor be under review by another journal.
  • Articles should have a maximum of 4000 words and an abstract of not more than 250 words.
  • Submissions should be typed on one side of the paper, double spaced and in Times New Roman font 12.
  • Authors should submit three hard copies of the article together with a Microsoft Word CD or flash disk (please do not send the article as an e-mail attachment).
  • A separate cover page with name/s of authors, current address, phone number, e-mail address, current occupation and institution should accompany all submissions.
  • ZJER recommends the use of the latest edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) for all citations and references.
  • Citations inside the articles should always include page numbers where appropriate.
  • Contributors should ensure that their papers are comprehensively edited and proofread before submission.

Please include a non-refundable processing fee for each submitted article: US$50.00 (if you are within Zimbabwe) or $80.00 (if you are outside Zimbabwe) cash or bank draft addressed to the University of Zimbabwe/ZJER. Each published author is entitled to a copy of the journal in which one’s article appears.

Deadline for submissions of papers: 31 March, 2014.
