Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic is a global health crisis ravaging the entire world. Awareness and agreement on COVID-19 pandemic existence after lockdown and its  effects on livelihood was investigated in Nigeria. Two stage sampling procedure was used to select 380 responses for the study. Data were collected  using online questionnaire administered via the WhatsApps. The filled online questionnaire was submitted to the researcher e-mail. Data collected were  analyzed using desc5riptive statistics and ANOVA. Findings showed that majority of the respondents were residents in the urban area (70.5%) and had  tertiary education (86.1%). The mean age and household size of the respondents was 36.5 years and 5 persons respectively. Majority (87.9%) of the  respondents were aware of the existence of COVID-19 after lockdown. The most reported effect of post COVID-19 was high cost of basic items and  services (46.1%). A mean of 3.5 was obtained which showed that the respondents agreed that COVID-19 still exist after the lockdown. ANOVA result  showed that F value (3.600) was significant at P<0.01, implying that there is a significant relationship between awareness and agreement on COVID-19  existence after the lockdown. Based on the findings, it is suggested that similar study should be conducted in the rural areas to gather more information  from the rural dwellers on their view on the existence of COVID-19 after lockdown in Nigeria.
