Definitions of some pasture terms

Abstract

Booysen (1967) proposed a number of terms and definitions for grazing and grazing management in South Africa. Additional terms and definitions describing the intensity of farming activities in realizing the full potential of the environment (viz. veld reclamation, veld management, veld reinforcement and veld replacement) are proposed. The concept of an agro-ecological unit is also defined and discussed.
