Training teacher-librarians in KwaZulu Natal

Abstract



The Advanced Certificate in Education School Library Development and Management at the University of KwaZulu-Natal was started in 2004 to train teacher-librarians. A preliminary study was done to investigate the status of school libraries in the schools from which the educators came and the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in these libraries. The results of the study showed that very few schools had well-resourced libraries with adequate ICT resources.
