Abstract

Pregnancy is associated with physiological changes in thyroid function that can make the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism difficult. Many symptoms of normal pregnancy mimic the symptoms of hyperthyroidism.1 Graves\' disease represents the commonest cause
of maternal hyperthyroidism, but although they are rare, trophoblastic tumours should be included in the differential diagnosis to avoid untoward consequences.
