Abstract

This paper discusses how Fromentin's love of and involvement in, nature influences his works. It demonstrates how his writings benefit from his involvement in painting, especially paintings of natural scenes. His rhythm which is carefully created from natural sounds carry along with it profound ideas as they are manifest in Dominique: an engaging novel which projects the writer’s love of nature and the ideas derived therefrom.
