Abstract

Software engineering (SE) is a consolidated and recognised discipline with a real influence on the world of software development world and on information technology (IT) in general. Many contributions has highlighted SE as the basis for a differentiated set of professional profiles within computing areas and the possible influence of human resources (HR) in software productivity. However standards and many empirical studies have not provided a deep and wide analysis of the different roles of specialization involved in a project. In this paper, assuming the connection between productivity and quality results and staff profiles and training, we present an overview of the definition of roles and positions in software development as described in standards, methodologies and job classifications.
