Abstract

The reproduction of Atya scabra (Leach, 1815) has been studied from August 2014 to July 2016. It has been artisanally fished in Bia River, precisely in the localities of Aboisso and Biaka in the South-Comoe Region of Côte d’Ivoire. The study has revealed five stages that characterize gonads maturation in this species. Spermatozoa had several flagella. Ovogenesis was marked by the size of the oocytes that increases from the pre-vitellogenic to the vitellogenic phase. A. scabra, shrimp is a unique spawning species from Bia River.
