Voice To The Voiceless: Gender Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship In Ebonyi State

Joy U. Egwu, Ph.D

Abstract

In the recent past, several attempts have been made to empower women through entrepreneurship in Nigeria. However, a gender gap still persists. This article examines the participation of Ebonyi women in entrepreneurship during the last decade to see whether there have been significant changes over the time. A model of entrepreneurial development that incorporates personal and environmental correlates was tested. This article has made a contribution to the growing understanding of entrepreneurial activity as a gateway to political and economic empowerment for women.
