Abstract

This study presents the place of colonialism and economic exploitation and corruption in since the colonial era till independence as major factors that undermines national development across many African countries. The study used extensive literature review and secondary document analysis to present the research. It is this culture of corruption that promoted indebtedness, which influenced resource exploitation and the armed confrontation that went with it. The study found that the situation in Africa has been worsened by the current rise in climate change challenges which creates complex human and resource security problems in the African state. The study recommends multidimensional approaches to the management of Nigerian problem.
