Abstract

This study presented balanced scorecard as a measurement for effective library services in academic libraries for sustainable education development. A study of Imo State University library, Owerri. In every organization, the importance of internal measurement appraisal and/or evaluation is very imperative. This helps the library/organization to beef up their performance in other to serve their clients effectively. The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of the balanced scorecard in measuring adequate library services to ensure adequate library service delivery. Survey method was used and the population for the study consist the thirteen librarians in the library understudy. Questionnaire was used to collect data and the data collected was analyzed using simple percentage. It was found that the balanced scorecard is effective for libraries to apprises their services to clients/users. Hence it becomes necessary that this measurement be used by libraries to determine their performance in their library service delivery.
