Structural analysis and splits of a two-fold discipline in library science and information science

Abstract

This article addressed the interdisciplinary nature of library science and Information science. The article identified and analysed the adequate distinction between the two concepts of library science and information science. This work also highlighted that the two disciplines deal with information involving cognitive processing and understanding. Information science is not an exception from librarianship. The work of information science falls in two areas of information and its manifestations of literature. The article concluded that although library science, information science have very different methodological and values perspectives, they have in common core relationship to the materials of their work.
