School organizational climate as correlate of childhood education

Abstract

School climate has been studied with multiple variable, methodologies, theories and models resulting in easily defined body of research. The history of school climate research is reviewed noting the influence of climate instruments developed to study the school climate other than the total school building, such as the school population, classroom size and learning materials. The objective of this study is basically to examine the correlation between the school climate organization and childhood education. The study sought to find out whether or not school climate has any effect on the education of children. The sample population comprised of 120 respondents from selected nursery/primary schools in Oluyole local government area of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The instrument used in the collection of data was the questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentages and frequency tables. Two hypotheses were tested at 0.5 level of significance. Chi square was used to test the hypotheses. The survey research method was used. Findings show that the school climate has a great influence on the learning ability of the pupils. Recommendations were made for further studies on ‘’School Organizational Climate as Correlate of Childhood Education’’.
