Influence of proactive coping ability and organizational support on work demand in Ondo State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study examined the influence of proactive coping ability and perceived organizational support on work demand of 231health workers in Ondo state comprising 128 males and 103 females with a mean age of 28.84 and SD of 7.47. A cross-sectional survey design was employed as the research design

Proactive Coping Ability Scale and Perceived Organizational Support were employed to measure proactive coping ability and perceived proactive coping ability respectively. Analysis of Variance was used to test the three hypotheses formulated. The result revealed that proactive coping ability significantly influenced work demand. Also, perceived organizational support significantly influenced work demand and lastly, proactive coping ability and perceived organizational support significantly jointly influenced work demand.

The implication of these findings is that health workers who possess high level of proactive coping ability would cope successfully with their work demand. In addition, health workers who perceived high organizational support would perform better than those who did not.
