Abstract

An analysis of daily average temperature of Benin City is carried out in this paper using 5-years temperature observations obtained from the recording station of the National Center for Energy and Environment, University of Benin, Benin City. The two-parameter Weibull model is used to fit the temperature observations and the attendant average temperature, median temperature, most probable temperature and the variance of the temperature are computed. Results from the analysis clearly revealed that the two-parameter Weibull model is a very adequate model for the temperature observations and hence can be used to efficiently calculate temperature probabilities for Benin City.
