Etat des lieux de la numerisation en radiologie conventionnelle dans les hopitaux publics du Togo

Abstract

Objectif: Evaluer le niveau de numérisation en radiologie conventionnelle dans les services d’imagerie médicale des hôpitaux publics du Togo.

Méthodologie: Nous avons effectué une étude d’observation transversale du 20 février au 06 avril 2015 dans les services de radiologie des formations sanitaires publiques du Togo.

Résultats: Nous avons recensé vingt-six (26) centres de formations sanitaires publiques dotées de radiologie conventionnelle. Plus de la moitié des hôpitaux de district ne disposait pas de table de radiologie. La numérisation en radiologie conventionnelle a été faite dans 3 hôpitaux sur les 27. Seule une formation sanitaire disposait d’une table de radiologie numérisée au système DR. Les autres étaient de la radiographie computérisée (CR). Aucun hôpital public ne disposait d’une table de panoramique dentaire numérique ni d’une table de mammographie à numérisation directe. Seule une formation sanitaire pratiquait exclusivement la radiographie numérique alors que les 02 autres n’avaient pas totalement abandonné le système analogique. Aucun centre ne disposait d’écran de diagnostic, ni de système d’archivage des images, ni de reprographe à papier. Les avantages de la radiologie numérique notés étaient la rapidité de l’obtention de l’image, la facilité du travail, la réduction du rebut de films et la productivité.

Conclusion: Il reste beaucoup à faire quant à la numérisation de radiologie conventionnelle des hôpitaux publics du Togo.

English Title: Inventory of fixtures of digitization in conventional radiology in medical public hospitals of Togo

English Abstract

Objective: Assess the level of digitization in conventional radiology in medical imaging departments of public hospitals of Togo.

Methodology: We carried out a cross-sectional observation study from February 20th to April 6th, 2015 in the radiology departments of public health facilities in Togo.

Results: We identified twenty-six (26) public health facility centers with conventional radiology. More than half of the district hospitals did not have a radiology table. Conventional radiology scanning was done in 3 of the 27 hospitals. Only one health facility had a digitized radiology table in the DR system. The others were computerized radiography (CR). No public hospitals had a digital panoramic dental table or a direct scan mammography table. Only one health unit practiced exclusively digital radiography while the other 02 had not completely abandoned the analog system. No center had a diagnostic screen, an image archiving system, or a paper copy machine. The benefits of digital radiology noted were the speed of obtaining the image, the ease  of work, the reduction of scrap film and productivity.

Conclusion: Much remains to be done in conventional radiology digitization of public hospitals in Togo.
