Infections respiratoires aiguës hautes chez le nourrisson et l’enfant : épidémiologie et manifestations cliniques

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims at determine the hospitalize frequency and analyze the clinical signs of high air way acute respiratory infection children.
Methodology: It is a prospective study which took place in Campus teaching hospital of Lome from January to December 2009 and concerned 244 children with high air way acute respiratory infection. We included in our study, children aged from 30 days to 15 years old with clear diagnostic of high air way acute respiratory infection and with minimum two laboratories analyzes.
Result: The hospital frequency of high air way acute respiratory infection was 7%. Children aged from 6 to 30 month were more concerned (4.2 %). The sex ratio was 1.03. We observed that 32.8% of children got family history of allergy rhinitis. Most of the children complained for cough (83.6%).
Conclusion: The frequency of high air way acute respiratory infection is high and is an important public health problem.
