Dovi Yelou

Abstract

Le présent article qui est une mise relation de la langue et de la société, vise à mettre en lumière un de ces moyens de transmission de messages, en procédant à une analyse lexico-sémantique de quelques proverbes comme moyens de transmission de message dans la communauté àjá.

English Title: Proverbs as means of transmission of message in the Àjá community, a lexico-semantic study of some proverbs

English Abstract

Regarded for a long time as societies characterised by oral tradition, African societies used to transmit messages of any kind orally. Among these various means of transmission of message, we have tales, riddles, proverbs, parabbles, etc.

With the advent of the western education, these various means of transmitting secret messages tend to disappear.

The present article which is a linking between language and society, aims at highlighting one of these means of transmission of message in the African communities, and particularly in the Àjá community: proverbs, by proceeding to a lexico-semantic analysis of certain proverbs used by the Àjá community.

Keywords: Oral tradition, proverbs, transmission of message, orally, Àjá community
