Abstract

Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) is of public health importance in sub-sahara Africa, where there are poor economic resources, inadequate health facilities and manpower. This report intends to demonstrate a rare cause of urogenital fistula. The clinical details of a case of vesicovaginal fistula complicating dilatation and curettage performed by an untrained operator is presented. To prevent such occurrence, mid-level health care providers are advised to use manual vacuum aspiration for uterine evacuation. It is easy to acquire the skill and it improves safety.
