Contribution of oblateness of the sun to radar sounding according to Newtonian mechanics
The Newtonian theory of radar sounding in the gravitational field of a spherical sun is well known . It is now well established that most of the astronomical bodies including the sun are spheroidal (proplate or oblate) in shape [5,11,12]. The Newtonian mechanics has been used to resolve satisfactorily the radar sounding phenomenon to the order of c-5 within the gravitational field established by the homogenous spherical massive sun. In this paper the Newtonian mechanics shall be used to resolve satisfactorily the radar sounding phenomenon within the gravitational field established by the homogenous spheroidal oblate massive sun.
