Peer Review:

Reviewers owe a sacred responsibility to the scientific community in upholding the highest level of decorum in reviewing manuscripts assigned to them. It is indeed a rare privilege to review the scientific publications of colleagues. To this end reviewers are to review promptly the papers assigned to them or return it to the editor within the shortest possible time should they be unable to review for any justifiable reason. Such reasons may be incompetence in the area or conflict of interest among others. Reviewers as a matter of trust should not discuss papers reviewed with the author(s) and should not make any use of the work described in the manuscript or to take advantage of the knowledge they gained by reviewing it before publication. Reviewers are to recognise that acceptance and publication of papers reviewed still rests solely on the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and this is without prejudice to appreciation of the worth of their unremunerated efforts.
