Statistical Applications and Quantitative Design for Injury Prevention Workshop

Abstract



The Medical Research Council and University of South Africa's Crime Violence and Injury Lead Programme (MRC–UNISA CVILP) was privileged to host renowned
scholar, Professor Shrikant Bangdiwala, Research Professor in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, United States of America. Bangdiwala, an advisory
editor of the International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion, conducted a five-day workshop on “Statistical applications and quantitative design for injury prevention research” from 18–21 August 2008 at the MRC in Cape Town, South Africa. The target audience for this workshop was researchers (with some working knowledge of epidemiology and statistics) and practitioners (with limited knowledge of epidemiology). The course was attended by 12 participants, comprising both UNISA and CVILP research
staff.
