Climate Change and Environmental Displacement: A Call for Comprehensive Action
Abstract
As triggers for both voluntary and involuntary migration, the intersection of climate change and environmental displacement is rapidly emerging as one of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century. From small island nations grappling with rising sea levels to drought-stricken regions experiencing mass migrations, and as wildfires engulf the Pacific northwest, the impacts of a warming planet are increasingly forcing people from their homes. Despite growing global awareness, the response to climate change and environmental displacement situations remains fragmented and insufficient.
