Nigeria Exchange Group PLC and Economic Growth and Development in Nigeria

Abstract

Nigeria Exchange Group is a major empire of economic growth and development of any nation. Its role for economic growth cannot be overemphasized. This study investigated the relationship between Nigeria Exchange Group and economic growth and development of the Nigerian economy. Four research questions were used for this research work. Questionnaire was used to collect data from respondents, industrialists, economic and financial experts in the South-East Zone of Nigeria. The options were scaled with a Likert Scale Rating Model with a 2.5 bench mark. Result showed that there is a strong positive relationship between Nigeria Exchange group and
economic growth and development in Nigeria with a mean score of 3.5 which is quite high as compared to 2.5 bench mark. Also, it was desired that Nigeria Exchange Group had no significant impact on economic growth and development in Nigeria. Hence, poor economic growth of Nigeria. Other findings show that Macroeconomic instability, capital flight, foreign exchange volatility, political uncertainty, policy uncertainty, domestic investor aversion, one price dependency is some of the constant factors that militates against the Nigerian Exchange Group Performance. Among the recommendations is that Government should pursue policies that will encourage the positive
performance of the Nigerian Exchange Group.
