Digital Transformation and Performance of Small and Medium Enterprises in south East Nigeria
Abstract
The study examined the relationship between digital transformation and performance of small and medium enterprises in south east, Nigeria. The design of the study was descriptive survey design. The area of the study was small and medium enterprises in south East, Nigeria. The population of the study was seven thousand, nine hundred and ninety (7,992). The sample size of three hundred and sixty seven (367) was drawn from the population using Freund and William’s statistic formula at 5 percent error margin. Instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire in a five point rating scale made up of two sections containing 20 items. Three hundred and three (303) copies of questionnaire were returned. Z-test was used to test the null hypotheses with the aid of statistical package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings indicated that Adoption of Digital Technology integration had significant positive relationship with the output of Small and Medium Enterprises in South East, Nigeria, Z = 7.353 < 9.032 10.053 P. <.05. and that digital business models had significant positive relationship with sales volume of Small and Medium Enterprises in South East, Nigeria, Z = 6.377 < 10.571, P.<.05. The study conducted that adoption of digital technology integration had significant positive relationship with output. And that implementation of digital business models had significant positive influence on sales volume, of SMEs in South East, Nigeria. The study recommended among others that SMEs in South East, Nigeria should prioritize the adoption of digital technology integration, as this can lead to improved product quality. Management should develop comprehensive digital transformation strategies tailored to their specific business needs.
