Factors associated with COVID-19 vaccination in Côte d’Ivoire, in 2022

Abstract

The first case of COVID-19 was reported in Côte d'Ivoire on March 11, 2020. This study aimed to identify the factors associated with COVID-19 vaccination in Côte d'Ivoire in 2022. We conducted a cross-sectional survey including people aged 12 years and older in nine health districts. Data were collected through in-person interviews. Binary logistic regression was performed using the SPSS software to identify the factors associated with COVID-19 vaccination. The measure of association was the adjusted odds ratio (ajOR). A total of 3,611 individuals were included in the survey. The majority of respondents were women (53%) and lived with their partners (55%). The majority (86%) of the respondents were aged between 18 and 59. The main sources of information about COVID-19 were public national television (89.9%) and social media (43.9%). The factors associated with the COVID-19 vaccination status were the absence of life as a couple (ajOR = 1.58; CI: 1.37 - 1.83), the absence of a chronic disease (ajOR = 1.41; CI: 1.12 - 1.77), sex (ajOR = 1.4; CI: 1.21 - 1.61), level of education (ajOR = 1.3; CI: 1.07 - 1 .57), religion (ajOR = 0.43; CI: 0.37-0.50) and age (ajOR = 0.24; CI: 0.15-0.38). Ivorian health authorities should consider these factors when developing COVID-19 vaccination awareness strategies.
