Abstract

This paper titled “Epistemology and Education: Locating a Cynosure and Creating a Nexus for Authentic National Development” seeks to make an exposition of the nature and scope of both epistemology and education. Thereafter attempt creating a nexus between them that can birth authentic national development in Nigeria nay Africa. The thesis of the paper holds that since epistemology is concerned with amongst other essentials the origin, nature and scope of knowledge, and education about the process of acquiring knowledge, when both are intently applied, the „ought‟ of one being educated will be achieved. An instance or a platform where one will aptly comprehend the nature and scope of his/her endeavour thereby appreciate and utilized the knowledge so acquired. Hence, the work argues that an authentic national development is attained only when everyone put to practice the ideals of his/her profession, vocation, skills, etc. The work adopts the research methods of critical analysis, integrativism and complementarism.
