Technology education for life-long learning and sustainable development in Nigeria: lesson for entrepreneurs.

Abstract

This paper analyses the issue of technology education for life-long learning and sustainable development in Nigeria: lesson for entrepreneurs. The paper emphasis on technology education, entrepreneurs, long-life learning as veritable to enhance life, employment generation, self-employment for life, local and international business transaction relationship and business generation through technology education, technological know-how, information communication technology (ICT) for sustainable and economic development thereby connecting the world as a global village. However, this paper made use of secondary sources, explanatory and analytical approach to elicit the conceptual frame work. The paper identifies how entrepreneur should be taught technology education, Computer programmes and packages common to entrepreneur, new technologies for sustainable development and long-life learning, New technologies avenues for entrepreneur’s usage in business, Implications of learning new technologies, challenges of entrepreneurs in embracing new technologies and the ways forward. The paper thus conclude that technological levels of Nigerian entrepreneurs’ is low, that they are adamant to participate and are very unwilling to be 21st century technology compliance let alone attending conference and symposia to enhance their ICT know-how in business. Technology education as a booster for long-life learning and sustainable development enhances knowledge acquisition for business organisation, proper planning, administration, management, and self-development cross border businesses in both national /international transactions. Through the use of ICT in business delivery, entrepreneurs would make the world a global village for business enterprises. Furthermore, the paper recommended that entrepreneurs should imbibe the spirit of submitting to technological education as a function of long-life learning for both self and economic development.
