Management of Contemporary e-Learning devices as enablers for quality educational system in public secondary schools in Bayelsa State, Nigeria

Abstract

The study examined Management of Contemporary e-Learning Devices as Enabler for Quality Educational System in Public Secondary Schools in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Three research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study is a descriptive design. The population of the study consisted all Principals in public secondary schools in Bayelsa State which have a total of 220. The sample comprised 150 Principals (80 urban teachers and 70 rural teachers) was drawn representing 68% of the entire population using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. A self-structured instrument tagged, Managing Digital Technological Driven-Learning for Transforming Secondary Education was used as the instrument for data collection which yielded a reliability index of 0.88 using Crobach Alpha Statistics. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while z-test was used to test the hypotheses. The study revealed among others that periodic maintenance, security and constant power are very essential for managing contemporary e-learning devices as enablers for quality educational system in public secondary schools in Nigeria. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that government should procure and provide contemporary e-learning devices in all public secondary schools in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. In conclusion, periodic maintenance policy, provision of constant power and placement of security are necessary ways of managing contemporary e-learning devices for quality educational system in Public Secondary Schools in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
