Human assets management and teachers’ economic recovery in public senior secondary schools in Abia State

Abstract

The study investigated human assets management and Teachers’ economic recovery in public senior secondary schools in Abia State. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study was correlational design. The population of the study was 275 principals in 275 public senior secondary schools with a sample of 275 principals using Census sampling technique. A 20 item instrument for data collection titled: Human assets management Questionnaire and Teachers’ economic recovery Questionnaire were used for data collection. Cronbach method was use to establish the reliability coefficient of Human assets management as 0.81 and Teachers’ economic recovery as 0.74. Out of 275 copies of the questionnaire administered, 270 were properly filled and retrieved. Simple regression was used to answer the research questions and t-test associated with simple regression was used to test hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance using SPSS. The study included that improved work-life and professional development predict teacher economic development in public senior secondary schools in Abia State. Findings showed that improve work-life and professional development predicted Teachers’ economic recovery by 6.6% and 32.7% respectively. It was recommended that school personnel should encourage teachers’ development programmes from time to time for teachers’ economic recovery in public senior secondary schools in Abia State.
