Étude de quelques phénomènes morphophonologiques dans le système nominal du gùlm̀ã̀ɲ̀cémà A study of certain morphophonological phenomena in the nominal system of Gùlm̀ã̀ɲ̀cémà

Abstract

La présente étude est une contribution à l’analyse du système nominal du gùl̀mã̀ɲ̀cémà, langue gur appartenant à la famille Niger-Congo (Greenberg, 1966), parlée principalement à l’est du Burkina Faso. Bien que plusieurs recherches aient déjà été menées sur le système nominal du gùl̀mã̀ɲ̀cémà, les phénomènes morphophonologiques associés à la formation de ses unités constitutives n’ont pas encore connu d’analyse approfondie. Afin de combler ce vide, nous nous interrogeons sur la nature des contraintes morphophonologiques liées au fonctionnement du système nominal. Sur le plan méthodologique, les données de notre étude proviennent d’enregistrements faits auprès de locuteurs natifs. Du point de vue théorique, nous avons exploité ces données dans l’analyse en nous inspirant des travaux de D. Creissels (1994, 2006a et 1991). Ces différents travaux constituent des approches qui permettent non seulement de comprendre l’étude du système nominal, mais aussi les processus morphophonologiques associés à sa description. Les résultats obtenus dans cette recherche révèlent que le système nominal du gùl̀mã̀ɲ̀cémà associe des phénomènes d’épenthèse vocalique, d’allongement vocalique, d’apocope et d’harmonie consonantique.

This study contributes to the analysis of the nominal system of Gùlm̀ã̀ɲ̀cémà, a Gur language belonging to the Niger-Congo family (Greenberg, 1966), spoken mainly in eastern Burkina Faso. Although several studies have already been conducted on the nominal system of Gùlm̀ ã̀ɲ̀cémà, the morphophonological phenomena associated with the formation of its constituent units have not yet been analyzed in depth. In order to fill this gap, we examine the nature of the morphophonological constraints related to the functioning of the nominal system. Methodologically, the data for our study comes from recordings made with native speakers. From a theoretical point of view, we have used this data in our analysis, drawing inspiration from the work of D. Creissels (1994, 2006a, and 1991). These various works constitute approaches that allow us to understand not only the study of the nominal system, but also the morphophonological processes associated with its description. The results obtained in this research reveal that the nominal system of Gùlm̀ ã̀ɲ̀cémà combines phenomena of vowel epenthesis, vowel lengthening, apocope, and consonant harmony.
