Analyse socio-spatiale de l’accessibilité au Centre de Santé Urbain (CSU) à base communautaire de Bocabo à Abobo A socio-spatial analysis of accessibility to the Community-Based Urban Health Center of Bocabo, Abobo
Abstract
The Community-Based Urban Health Center (CSU-COM) of Bocabo, inaugurated in 2001 in the municipality of Abobo, aims to bring primary healthcare services closer to densely populated urban communities, in response to the insufficiency of hospital facilities and the socio-economic vulnerability of local residents. This study seeks to analyze accessibility to the Bocabo Urban Health Center. The research was conducted between January and June 2025, using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. Data were collected through the analysis of service utilization records, surveys administered to 300 users, and semi-structured interviews with the center’s staff. The results show that although the center is strategically located and provides a comprehensive range of services (general consultations, maternal and child health care, vaccination, family planning, and screening for chronic diseases), its accessibility remains limited by poor road infrastructure, insufficient financial resources among some users, and organizational constraints (waiting times and service capacity). Cultural analysis reveals the influence of local languages and traditional practices on healthcare utilization. The population attending the center is predominantly composed of women and children, with an average daily attendance of 100 to 150 patients, peaking during public health campaigns and the rainy season.
